Now is clearly the age of division. An evermore flagrant display of powers has crumbled any iota of our state and many others. Right now there are anti-American, anti-establishment and anti-state demonstrations in Europe, over 50 armed conflicts on the continent of Africa, an ever unwelcome growth of Chinese borders, a war in Ukraine and of course a never ending bullshit storm in Iran. All this amongst myriads of other global strife in an era of fundamental destabilization, all in an effort to consolidate power to a single entity or in reaction to that effort. Though, even with all this, a bigger battle is being wrought between not nations but people. The world is being propagandized against their neighbors for reasons of their church, money, background, politics, race and any other category that congruently is what defines an “ism”.
“Isms” are merely unproductive, feeble and often assailable identity markers created to foster division. One is expected to attend their institutions of choice and rabble against their neighbor’s institutions. Meanwhile the neighbor does the same and all the while nothing of positive substance is ever achieved except that the prognosticators of such division reward themselves with the spoils of the toils of these people, the “ists”.
The machine runs on “Isms” and “ists” and the divisions they create. Democratism, Republicanism, Nationalism, Fascism, Communism, Naziism and any other political so called ideology are just brands or a political face. None of these exist in an ecosystem devoid of any of the others. Some seem to be benevolent attempts to escape the oppression of others but they will all eventually run into a wall of obsolescence. Good ideas as well as bad can come from anywhere. Prescribing to any one ism creates an ecosystem of diminishing returns. Anything that governs the whole of a population of people should be a system open to ideas that further compassion and empowerment of that population from the members of said population.
Government models are just extensions of philosophies, other forms of “isms”, which fail to hold true or provide universally positive outcomes eventually. Rationalism becomes absurdism at the very point when rationality ceases to have a positive effect. A similar outcome is inevitable with any philosophy. Prevailing politics just as philosophy only work until a majority or a strong minority decide they do not benefit from such a system and it crumbles.
With a dismantling of ism thinking, a system could prosper with individual, unregulated parts within the whole i.e. many populations or one prevailing population unobstructed and unincumbered by any single overriding ideology. Such prosperity is impossible in our current state. In a society where all ideologies were equally considered in a case by case basis in microcosms or small populations rather than macrocosmically, there would be no need for “isms” or a system that enforces/ defends them. If all leaders prescribed to this thinking there would be no need for divisions; therefore no need for leaders, for as that system coalesced into a reality where needs were met through ideas instead of party bias, the need for leaders would diminish. Hence the forced prevalence of ism think would die.
This is not a call for anarchism. Anarchism like all isms would have its own break down over time. Socialism provides for bad actors to steal at the top from the bottom too easily. Capitalism is a talisman for oppression. In any “ism” a corrupt power rises from a state of apathy in a blissful society or from disenchantment with chaos and disorder. Like weeds, the cruel oppressive hands of power would inevitably beckon. Let humanity live free of any oppressions bestowed upon them by their very birth.
We have a brittle framework for freedom and equality in our “democracy” but that framework was battered from the start as it was not created for everyone. From that depraved adoption the idea has suffered many blows. Our democracy barely survives it’s wounds at this point but remains a usable skeleton to wrap a newly unconfounded, prudent, focused and unwavering group rage around and fight our oppressors, crafting a new system devoid of divisive isms.
Minus a revolution of a newfound openness of ideas, killing the constraints of an ism society, we are left with a bunch of labels that mean little except empowering conventions, boards, halls and cabinets full of strangers. Strangers who rarely even remain loyal to their own isms. We have lip service about issues and dog whistles of hatred from the people elected to represent us, all of us. This is a system devoid of ideas, a system breaking to domestic hatred, to war, to economic hardships, decadence and decay. Alternatively, we could realize that our identity as individuals does not depend on the color of a leaders tie or our contrasting beliefs about gender or lack there of, or what your coworker or neighbor believes in. Our identity as a country has everything to do with the freedoms to be, do or say the things that piss off our neighbors. We all need to eat, sleep somewhere, we all need to breathe clean air etcetera. If one feels constrained inside of the system, they must at the least hold their leaders responsible to foster a better system with rational compassion in mind because it’s their jobs after all. Forget party lines or your favorite color. Forget your favorite podcaster’s bullshit or what’s on your bumper sticker. Our job as “Americans” is to embrace and foster the freedoms and prosperities of our neighbors so they can in turn do that for others. This job is only made harder when shackled by isms.
